From Harris S. Hill, Story City, Iowa.
I began army life at Camp Dodge in Des Moines on Nov.23,1942 and went to Texas to be in the 102nd, Co. F, and stayed with them until my discharge on Feb. 14, 1946. We carried our assault boats to the Roer River and paddled across, and we did the same at the Rhine River. I received the WW 2 victory medal with 2 Bronze stars, good conduct medal, Meritorious Unit award , l service strip, 2 overseas bars, ex. & Combat Inf. badge with Rifle, M-1, Pistol MM w/carbine.
